The Coronavirus shutdown has affected all businesses in some way, and in many cases, brought work-life, as we knew it, to a screeching halt. The entertainment industry – especially in regard to films - was among those hardest hit. Production ceased, actors and crew were sent home, and movie releases were delayed. Obviously, the health and safety of everyone involved was top priority.
Some titles, such as Emma, 1917, and Trolls World Tour, were sent directly to digital on-demand platforms (like Amazon, HBO Max, and YouTube) where fans could pay to stream them to any device they’d like. However, many more long-awaited films saw their theatrical release dates pushed back to an indeterminate time in the future. As movie-goers, we have been patiently waiting for that forthcoming, lovely time where indoor, enclosed spaces (like *ahemm* movie theaters) don’t pose so much of a risk.
While that day may not be today, hope looms on the horizon, and dates have officially been named. Below is a comprehensive list of movie release dates that have been delayed due to COVID, and when we might be able to see them.
(Note: Though these are official, up-to-date listings, due to the pandemic and the ever-changing state reopenings, all are subject to change.)
