I'm Sorry If You Understand

By Lane Bashline

A bright and booming voice would wake me up in the morning

A calming serene song puts me to sleep

cuddling my curls, coddling my feelings

holding my head up high

I wanted your hands to hold my face

Instead, I hold up your bed

Your memory lives with me

you're one child, standing strong

you raised my voice, so I could raise your story

I want to tell you about my loss

About the feelings, I can't feel anymore

I want to pour my soul out

But you left this earth too soon.

I grieve the parts of me

That I stole from you

If I gave you back your personality

Could you stay here a little longer

Because I lost a piece of me
