The Fate of the peacock

Wednesday, February 10

By Simone Harrison

A pillar of brilliance,

adorned with shades of sapphire

dripping in ocean emeralds.

A boastful chest protrudes

from a petite frame;

guarding her beauty from

any prey.

With one earring in,

nothing short of a portraiture,

She’s the diamond in the rough,

an anomaly of nature.

What shall the pageant do, however,

when the herd fly by,

when waves of cobalt dilute

the bird;

it’s brilliance shall die.
