Why You Should Start a YouTube Channel

Staying stuck inside the house for months has the potential to drive anyone crazy. If there is one thing that has been keeping people sane (for the most part) it is the internet. YouTube, Twitch, and TikTok are apps that I would credit for keeping me entertained and inspired. Seeing so many people, both veteran creators and people just starting, showing their creativity motivated me to make my own content.

There has been a significant shift in how many people decided to make their own accounts and share their experiences being in quarantine. So much so that it proves the point of this article which is that you should start a channel of your own.

People might have an idea that creating on YouTube is only beneficial if you are trying to be famous or become rich and that is far from the truth. If that’s your mindset when you upload your first video, you’re gonna be in a world of hurt. There are so many creative people in the world that go unpaid, unrecognized, and unnoticed because it seems that people have lost the true appreciation for art. Sharing your talents with the world is something that anyone should consider.

Seeing as the world is becoming more technologically advanced, it would only make sense for someone to at least try to utilize social media for their creative endeavors. Plus, making specific types of content such as podcasts can help you build a sense of community and help you become more marketable for potential jobs.

There is something for anyone on the internet and so many niches exist that you should not be scared to make that big step. I know people who want to do social media but are scared that nobody will watch them or that their content won’t be good enough. If there is one thing that I have learned from making videos, it’s that no one really cares if you upload or not.

Most of the time, people are not gonna pay attention to you as much as you think so you might as well post what you want. Someone is bound to come across your video and maybe they’ll see something in you and maybe they won’t, but either way it ultimately will not matter. You could make the worst video imaginable and people will forget months later. If you want advice about how to get started: just start.

There is room for everyone on the internet and you should not feel weird for wanting to be a YouTuber, TikToker, streamer, etc. People are consuming tons of media every single day, so you might as well take advantage of these platforms while they are here. The beauty of social media is that it is still very much new and it is changing every single day. With that being said, I encourage any creative individual to start their channel/account now. If putting yourself out there was a resolution of yours, what are you waiting for?
